MINI Cooper SD announced

British marque MINI has taken the wraps off the Cooper SD which represents the most powerful MINI ever fitted with a diesel engine. Its heart and soul is a 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter engine outputting 170 PS and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. With the six-speed manual gearbox it covers the 0-100 km/h run in 7.3 seconds while with the optional six-speed Steptronic transmission it’s 0.1 seconds quicker. The vehicle manages to have an average fuel consumption of 4-4.1 liters / 100 km with corresponding CO2 emissions of 104-110 g/km.

In related news, MINI has also introduced the One First which packs a 3-cylinder 1.2-liter TwinPower Turbo diesel engine generating 75 PS and 150 Nm. This one will need 12.8 seconds until 100 km/h and will have a fuel consumption of 5-5.2 liters / 100 km with 117-122 g/km of CO2 emissions.

Prices for the MINI Cooper SD kick off at 19,450 pounds and both models are programmed to reach UK dealerships next month.
