Second generation Ford S-MAX unveiled

At last year’s Geneva Motor Show we saw the S-MAX concept and now Ford has unveiled the second generation of the production model which will get its premiere next month at the Paris Motor Show. The MPV is based on the latest generation Mondeo and adopts a seven-seat interior layout while the exterior design shares a few styling cues with the Fiesta and Focus. Some of the most important features include the hands-free boot lid and power folding seats for the second and third row of seats. It also boasts an electronically-adjustable steering column, rear side airbags and heated & cooled front seats with massage function.

The Blue Oval company hasn’t released details about the technical specifications but we expect to find a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine outputting 158 bhp along with a larger 2.0-liter EcoBoost rated at 237 bhp. There should also be a 2.0-liter TDCI diesel delivering 118 bhp which will likely be offered with 148 bhp and 177 bhp. These engines will work with a six-speed manual or a dual clutch automatic transmission sending power to an optional all-wheel drive system.

The second generation Ford S-MAX is programmed to go on sale next summer.
