Ford Police Interceptor gets a new V6 3.7-liter engine

The police departments in the United States are now able to get the Ford Police Interceptor sedan with a new engine choice, along with the two existing options. The Blue Oval company has introduced for the Taurus-based Interceptor the twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) 3.7-liter V6 engine.

We are dealing with the same power unit found under the hood of the Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle, a vehicle based on the Ford Explorer. The engine is capable of producing 305 hp and a maximum torque of 279 lb-ft.

This new engine will be slotted above the V6 3.5-liter flex fuel unit with 285 hp and underneath the more powerful EcoBoost twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter that pumps out a total of 365 ponies. The North American automaker mentioned that both the horsepower and the torque figures of this V6 3.7-liter engine are the biggest among the V6 naturally-aspirated engines available in the United States for pursuit-rated sedans.
