Subaru launches Forester tS in Japan

Subaru has presented the Forester tS which will be sold exclusively in Japan. The model has gained a more aggressive body compared to the stock model as it has beefy front & rear spoilers, 19-inch forged aluminum wheels as well as an STI-branded front grille. Other noticeable features of the hot crossover include black accents, rear spoiler mounted on the tailgate and a 15mm lowered sport-tuned suspension. On the inside it benefits from sport seats wrapped around in leather & ultrasuede with red contrasting stitching and the STI logo embossed. Subaru also installed a push-button ignition, STI-branded speedometer and piano black accents.

Motivation of the Forester tS is provided by a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine benefiting from a remapped ECU which has enabled the motor to generate 280 HP and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. Output is transferred to the wheels through a Lineartronic CVT equipped with a new oil cooler and an updated transmission control unit.


Other enhancements include a strut tower brace, ventilated Brembo brakes, STI-branded calipers, flexible front & rear draw stiffeners and a flexible rear subframe support.

Subaru has announced they will make only 300 units of the Forester tS and each will carry a starting price of ¥4,350,000.
