You Have a Fast Car, but Do You Really Take It Anywhere?

Owning a fast car, only naturally, makes you want to go as fast as possible when you’re sat behind the wheel. For adrenaline junkies especially, driving at over 100 miles an hour is a great way to blow off steam — but where is it safe, and legal, to do such a speed? Certainly not anywhere in Britain or the U.S. that’s not a specially designed race track, because the absolute maximum on the motorway and highway systems respectively is 70mph. There are however places where higher speed limits can be attained, albeit in safe and controlled areas. Here are a few of the best places to speed legally in both the UK and the U.S.

Lime Rock Park, Connecticut, U.S.

Lime Park is a natural race tack with an awful lot of history, and the curves to boot. You can join a car club or take part in the racing school and learn from some of the best drivers around. Here, you’ll really be able to see what you’re truly made of when it comes to speed.

Heyford Park, Oxford, UK

Heyford Park offers a range of tailor-made car driving experiences for you to not only drive as fast as you’d like, but to also feel what it’s like to be James Bond for the day (everybody’s dream, right?). For example, you can have a thrilling ride in a Aston Martin DB9, a Jaguar E-Type or a Austin Healey 3000. So why not make your way to Oxfordshire and drive not only with speed, but in style?

Redline Raceway, Texas, U.S.

If racing events interest you, then Redline Raceway, located in Caddo Mills, is the perfect choice as it provides racing events for everyone. If you want to take that speeding rivalry that’s been brewing between you and your friend over years of Go-Karting to an actual car circuit, then head over to Texas and challenge them to a race. But remember everything is bigger in Texas, so the prize money on offer between you and your friend needs to be big too.

Brands Hatch, Kent, UK

This historic British racetrack played host to the British Formula One event annually for a number of years, so if you want to experience what it’s like to be an F1 driver, then this is the place to head to. Also, for those who are looking for a less costly speeding experience than those previously mentioned, then Brands Hatch is the perfect place as you can indulge yourself in specially selected track days where you can bring your own vehicle with you to race for free.

But make sure you, yourself, are ready for the task of controlling a car at such high speeds. And make sure you don’t hit speeds where you’re not legally entitled to do so; you don’t want to hit a bump and end up in a field or end up having to use a service like cash for junk cars, do you?

So, now you know where to go and what to do in your quest for greater speed limits, what’s stopping you? It’s time to get into the fast lane and speed your speeding dream up!
