McLaren P1 video released

Without any doubt one of the most anticipated cars of the year is the McLaren P1, a worthy successor of the legendary F1 released in the early 90s. Set to make its public debut later on this year, we get to see a prototype of the P1 stretching its legs while conducting testing before it hits the market. Compared to the concept showed on many occasion, the production model will retain 97% of the same design which can only be good news since the concept has a gorgeous styling. The only modifications will be done to the front bumper and at the back it will sport a tighter mesh design which will still allow seeing the car’s internals.

If we were to believe rumors and speculations, the 2013 McLaren P1 will be powered by the engine found in the MP4-12C but it will be tweaked in order to unleash about 800 hp (596 kW). On top of that, there will also be an F1-inspired KERS providing additional ponies for a limited amount of time (several seconds).

McLaren has previously mentioned they want the P1 to be the fastest car around the Nürburgring. Some say it will be limited to just 500 units, with pricing beginning at a whopping $1.2 million.
