2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid premieres at New York Auto Show

Subaru is showcasing at 2013 New York Auto Show the XV Crosstrek Hybrid which they say that it is the most fuel-efficient AWD crossover in the United States. Motivation comes from a 2.0-liter boxer engine rated at 148 hp (110 kW) and 196 Nm (145 lb-ft) of torque. It works in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that has a built-in electric motor generating 13 hp (10 kW) and 65 Nm (48 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to this setup and the stop/start system, the car promises to deliver 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg in the combined cycle. There are no details about its price tag but it will hit the market in Q4 this year.

As far as the design is concerned, the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid can wear an optional Plasma Green Pearl hue and is fitted with bespoke alloys, an active shutter grille, better HVAC system, updated instrument cluster and more sound-deadening materials. Compared to the regular version of the Crosstrek, the Hybrid is 136 kg (300 lbs) heavier and has 48 liters (1.7 cubic feet) less cargo room to offer.
