Alfa Romeo shows off 4C Safety Car for FIM World Superbike Championship

Alfa Romeo revealed last weekend the 4C Safety Car at the FIM World Superbike Championship. As you can see from this official image provided by the Italian marque, the 4C is wearing a two-tone paint scheme with red, white and green stripes adorning the entire length of the car’s body. Powering the car is the same engine which you get in the production version, a 4-cylinder 1.75-liter mill churning 240 HP (176 kW) and a maximum torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). The power unit is linked to a dual-clutch gearbox which sends the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

The Alfa Romeo 4C will be going on sale later this year and it represents perhaps the most important model in the last few years launched by the Italian company. Rumors suggest next year we’ll get to see track-only Racing and road-legal Stradale models. Also in the pipeline for 2014 is a convertible which will be more expensive than its fixed-roof counterpart. All derivatives of the 4C will be manufactured in Modena at Maserati’s factory.
