Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept revealed in full

About a week ago Toyota provided preliminary details for the Yaris Hybrid-R Concept which will be seen in the metal starting next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany. Now, the Japanese marque has disclosed full details of the hybrid three-door hatchback which is powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine outputting 300 bhp and 420 Nm. The conventional engine motivates the front wheels, while a couple of electric motors with each delivering 60 bhp are providing power to the rear wheels. When Track mode is turned on, the concept has a maximum combined output of 420 bhp which lasts for five seconds.

Toyota has installed a third electric motor which delivers 60 bhp and has been mounted between the four-banger and the six-speed sequential transmission. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels shod in 225/40 R18 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup rubbers, while behind them are perforated and grooved discs with six-piston calipers on the front axle and four-piston calipers at the back.


Moving inside the cabin and we find Recaro bucket seats, sport pedals from the GT 86, Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and a shift lever installed close to the right hand of the driver.
