The following video was recorded by the wife of this 2005 Cessna Sky Hawk pilot. An inexperienced pilot we might add taking into consideration what happened. He dropped the plane’s landing gear and was preparing to touch the ground but didn’t notice the Volvo SUV that was minding its own business and hit it at a speed of approximately 65 mph. Because of the impact, the landing gear was completely destroyed but the good news is that nobody was hurt during the accident.
Airport manager Glen Hyde mentioned that cars have to stop when the runway active, but unfortunately this didn’t happen.
