Alfa Romeo Spider due in late 2015
New details are emerging about the Alfa Romeo Spider reboot which will allegedly be launched in November 2015.
The car will share its platform with the next generation of the Mazda MX-5 (Miata) and will adopt the design of the 2010 2uettottanta concept seen in this photo.
Pininfarina won’t be a part of the car’s design as the vehicle will be styled by Fiat’s Centro Stile in collaboration with a satellite studio from Japan.
The 2015 Alfa Romeo Spider will actually be built by Mazda in Japan.
Both models will share the same front/rear axles, windscreens, front bulkhead and engine compartments. The 2015 Spider is rumored to come with an Alfa Romeo Giulietta-derived 1.4-liter TB MultiAir turbocharged engine with more than 170 bhp (125 kW). This engine will work with a 6-speed auto dual-clutch gearbox.
We should also mention that it will weigh approximately 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs) thanks to an extensive use of high-strength steel for the body. Both the Spider and MX-5 will be around four meters long and 1.7 meters wide, but the Spider will be slightly longer than the new Miata.
