Audi brings TDI-powered A3 Sportback to U.S.
Audi has disclosed plans of reintroducing the A3 Sportback on the U.S. market and they are showcasing the model these days at the 2014 New York Auto Show. It will go on sale next year as a 2016MY and will be sold only with a diesel engine in the form of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder TDI Clean Diesel taken from the recently facelifted Jetta where the mill churns 150 bhp and a maximum torque of 236 lb-ft. The engine is going to be coupled to a 6-speed S tronic transmission but we don’t know its performance and how fuel efficient it will be.
However, we remind you the 2015 Jetta fitted with this diesel engine is capable of returning 32 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway and 37 mpg in the combined cycle. Those who can’t wait until next year for the A3 Sportback can opt for the A3 Sedan which will be offered with the same thrifty engine.
