Audi offers updated 1.2 TFSI engine with 105 HP for A3
Audi UK has announced the availability of an updated 1.2-liter TFSI engine for the A3. This mill is capable of outputting 105 HP (77 kW) and 129 lb-ft (175 Nm) of torque, helping the German car do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 10.3 seconds, making it 0.7 seconds faster than before. CO2 emissions have also been reduced by 13g as they now stand at 114 g/km. We should mention this engine can be linked to either a manual gearbox or an optional seven-speed, dual-clutch S tronic. With any of the two, the A3 can return 47.9 mpg US (57.6 mpg UK or 4.9 liters / 100 km), which makes it 5 mpg US (6 mpg UK) more economical than before.
As far as pricing is concerned, Audi says the cheapest version of the A3 fitted with the aforementioned 1.2-liter TFSI engine will set you back 17,905 pounds for the entry-level SE version that comes with the manual gearbox. Pricing goes all the way up to 22,760 pounds when the customer opts for the range-topping S line model that comes with the S tronic gearbox.
Scheduled to go on sale this May, the three-door version is already available on order. The more practical Sportback five-door model will arrive sometime this summer.
