Audi revises A1 e-tron
Ingolstadt-based automaker Audi has revealed an updated version of the A1 e-tron which has been fitted with a more powerful electric motor that can generate 115 HP (85 kW) and an instant torque of 221 lb-ft (300 Nm).
In comparison to the previous iteration of the model, this latest e-tron is 13 HP (10 kW) and 44 lb-ft (60 Nm) more powerful. Thanks to the additional oomph, the 2013 Audi A1 e-tron needs just 9.8 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) and can achieve an electronically-capped top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h).
The e-tron’s electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery which has a capacity of 13.3 kWh and allows the car to travel on electric power for as much as 31 miles (50 km). When the battery level is low, a rotary engine-generator with 34 HP (25 kW) is automatically activated and will increase the e-tron’s range to approximately 155 miles (250 km).
