Bentley SUV green-lighted for 2016
It will finally happen, the automotive industry will see an SUV wearing the Bentley badge. The production model is expected in 2016 according to the British marque who released today this interesting information along with a design sketch as a preview for the vehicle’s styling approach.
The new model will be made in Crewe where Bentley plans on investing 800 million pounds and adding more than a thousand jobs throughout the United Kingdom. This will be done in preparation for the SUV as well as other models in the pipeline for the next several years.
Chances are the design will vary greatly in comparison to the EXP9 F Concept which Bentley showcased at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. What we know so far about the model is that it will be the “most luxurious and most powerful SUV in the market”, according to Bentley. In addition, styling-wise it will “set it apart from any other SUV on the road and will be true to the Bentley design DNA.”
From what we can tell by looking at this design sketch, the Bentley SUV production version will adopt a considerably sleeker roofline and a hofmeister kink as seen in many BMW models over the last decade.
