BMW is introducing the X4 M40i which will act as the most powerful model of the X4 range, until a possible X4 M will be launched. There aren’t a lot of differences between this special edition and a regular X4 equipped with the optional M Sport Package, but we do have to mention the fresh trim accents applied on the front bumper, along with a unique set of 19-inch rims and the revised side mirror caps. In addition, the model has gained a different exhaust system with twin pipes while on the inside there are door sills with the “X4 M40i” lettering and a bespoke 19-inch alloy wheel set.
The 2016 BMW X4 M40i is motivated by a punchy six-cylinder, 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of developing a maximum output of 360 PS (265 kW). Thanks to this powerful engine, the higher performance SAV from Bavaria will need just 4.9 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint, so it will be a significant 0.6 seconds faster than the standard X4 35i. In terms of top speed, BMW will electronically limit the model to 155 mph (250 km/h) like they do on just about every other model in their extensive lineup.
