Chevrolet launches facelifted 2016 SS
Chevrolet has just unveiled the facelifted 2016 SS high-performance sedan. It now comes with a slightly more aggressive exterior design and boasts more chrome accents on the front fascia along with new vertical ducts which according to Chevy boost the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. It also gains a ventilated hood and new LED daytime running lights while the cast-aluminum 19-inch rims adopt a new design. There’s also a newly developed dual-mode exhaust system which will be louder at full throttle and quieter during low engine speeds.
Under the hood of the 2016 SS resides the familiar V8 6.2-liter engine which churns no less than 415 bhp and a maximum torque of 415 lb-ft. All that power is channeled to the road with help from either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox that comes with paddle shifters.
Speaking about the revised model, Todd Christensen, Chevrolet Performance Car marketing manager, declared “the 2016 SS design changes more fully express the true driving character of the sedan while further enhancing the car’s overall performance.”
There’s no word just yet regarding the car’s price tag but it should be very close to the 2015 SS which kicks off at $45,745 MSRP.
