Ford updates the EcoSport in Europe
Ford is rolling out a slightly updated version of the EcoSport in Europe. It’s already available on order and now you have the possibility to eliminate the rear-mounted spare wheel to enable a cleaner look for this tiny crossover. Most of the changes have occurred inside the cabin where there’s now a new steering wheel, more chrome accents while the handbrake has been relocated. Go for the more expensive Titanium version and you benefit from part leather seats while the new Winter Pack comes with heated mirrors, heated front seats and a heated windscreen. Ford says that in the near future they will offer a navigation system as well as a rearview camera.
The engineers have also worked on the four-cylinder, 1.5-liter TDCi turbodiesel engine and managed to bump its output by 5 PS to 95 PS. Equipped with this engine, the revised Ford EcoSport will have a fuel consumption of 4.4 liters / 100 km and emit 115 g/km of CO2.
Moreover, the 2015 EcoSport has a recalibrated suspension with new dampers, springs and a rear torsion beam and these changes have lowered the center of gravity to enable better handling while the ride height has also been reduced by 10mm. Ford’s engineers also worked on recalibrating the power steering and electronic stability control to make them suitable for European roads.
