Jaguar prepares F-Type R Coupe support car for 2014 Tour de France
Jaguar through its Special Vehicle Operations division took the wraps off a unique F-Type R Coupe which was built to be a support vehicle for one of the stages of this year’s Tour de France. It was developed for Team Sky and will be seen in action on Saturday in a time trail event lasting 34 miles (54 km) between Bergerac to Périgueux in stage 20 of Tour de France. The one-off has received a custom racking solution for two of the team’s Pinarello Bolide TT bikes while the car’s body wears the team’s livery as well as other graphic designs inside the cabin.
Another major change can be found in the trunk where there’s a separate electric supply providing power to the radios, amplifiers, horns, televisions and microphones. Power comes from the familiar V8 5.0-liter supercharged gasoline engine delivering no less than 550 PS (404 kW) and a maximum torque of 680 Nm (501 lb-ft).
