Lada is proud to introduce its racecar for the 2014 World Touring Car Championship. It’s called the Granta TC1 and is an evolution of last year’s car and has lost 50 kg so now it tips the scales at 1,150 kg. The vehicle has been lowered by 20mm and has gained 18-inch rims along with a revised aerodynamic package encompassing a generous rear wing. At its heart is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine outputting an estimated 380 bhp (283 kW). The vehicle will go up against the Honda Civic WTCC and the Citroen C-Elysee WTCC.
The Russian marque has planned to field three cars which will be driven by Rob Huff, James Thompson and Mikhail Kozlovskiy. It should be mentioned that Rob Huff won the WTCC championship in 2012, while Thompson obtained Lada’s best result which was last year at home in Russia where he finished in fifth place. For next year Lada has announced to introduce a newly developed car.
