Land Rover Defender Challenge rally series introduced

Land Rover has revealed plans to establish a one-make rally series known as “Defender Challenge”. This competition will be operated by Bowler Motorsport and regulated by the Motor Sport Association (MSA) and will comprise of FIA-compliant Defender 90s. The vehicles will feature a roll cage, retuned suspension and a fire extinguisher system, while other features will include lightweight 18-inch alloys wrapped around in Kuhmo tires, along with racing seats. The base car will cost 50,000 pounds while the Defender Challenge will cost an extra 10,000 – 14,000 pounds.

Power of the Land Rover Defender Challenge will come from a 2.2-liter diesel engine which has been tweaked to generate 170 bhp and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. The engine will send its output to the wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox.
