Lincoln MKC Concept to spawn a production version

Troubled American automaker Lincoln has prepared an interesting concept for this year’s 2013 NAIAS in Detroit. The MKC is a preview for one of the four upcoming models with which Lincoln hopes to revitalize the brand. We are dealing with a model which will be slotted into the compact luxury crossover segment that last year saw a jump in sales of almost 60%, while overall in the last four years it has grown by a whopping 200%. This new interesting concept adopts the brand’s split-grille that can also be seen on the 2013 MKZ. Other than that, it packs a panoramic roof with tow steel bars that are running across its length.

The 2013 Lincoln MKZ Concept features frameless doors and a clamshell tailgate extending over the rear wings which will offer a generous opening in the trunk. The interior cabin looks pretty much production ready except for the leather-covered A-pillars and probably the four-seat layout. We are dealing with the smallest car ever made by the American brand, measuring 4550mm in length, 1932mm in width and 1607mm in height, with a 2712mm wheelbase.

A production model based on this concept is likely to arrive sometime next year.
