Lotus unleashes Exige V6 Cup R

Set to make its public and official debut at the 2013 Autosport International, the Lotus Exige V6 Cup R has been unveiled by the British automaker. We are dealing with a track-only model based on the Exige V6 Cup which comes with a new aerodynamic body kit with a rear diffuser, canards and a front splitter. There’s also a sports exhaust system in the package, along with two-way adjustable dampers and AP Racing brakes. Like any respectable track car, its interior cabin has been stripped of all the unnecessary equipment in order to lower the curb weight of the vehicle as much as possible.

Power comes from a supercharged V6 3.5-liter engine managing to churn 366 HP (269 kW) and a maximum torque of 295 lb-ft (413 Nm). Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the Lotus Exige V6 Cup R is able to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in only 3.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h).

We should mention that thanks to all the weight-saving measures, the car has a curb weight of just 2,293 lb (1,040 kg). For safety purposes, they have added a racing seat with a six-point harness, a fire extinguisher and a full roll cage.
