Mercedes-Benz has disclosed U.S. pricing for the B-Class Electric Drive which is scheduled to go on sale this summer at a starting price of $41,450. The vehicle will have to go up against the BMW i3 (costs $41,350) and will be offered as standard with a Becker MAP PILOT navigation system, cruise control and power front seats, as well as a wide array of safety systems. For more money the vehicle can be configured with a seven-inch COMAND infotainment system featuring GPS navigation, Internet connectivity as well as a LINGUARTRONIC voice control system.
Power of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is provided by an electric motor that churns 177 bhp and 251 lb-ft and works together with a lithium-ion battery pack that has a capacity of 28 kWh. The vehicle will do the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 7.9 seconds before hitting an electronically-capped top speed of 100 mph (161 km/h). The German marque says the vehicle’s batteries will provide enough juice for around 85 miles (137 km).
Using a 240V charger for less than 2 hours will fill up the batteries for a 60 miles (96 km) range while a full charge takes 3.5 hours.
