Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plug-In Hybrid leaked in patent pics

German automaker Mercedes-Benz is about to launch a plug-in hybrid variant of the new S-Class, based on what these patent photos are showing us. Chances are this new economical version of the company’s flagship model will be sold with the S500 Hybrid Plus moniker.

It will look a lot like the regular models but we do notice that there’s a new exhaust setup, an updated front grille and also a different rear bumper featuring built-in charging port. This new model will likely go on sale sometime in 2014 at a starting price of less than 100,000 euros.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Hybrid Plus will probably be powered by a V6 3.5-liter working together with an electric motor generating an extra 109 HP (80 kW). There will also be a lithium-ion battery while fuel economy is estimated to stand at around 78.4 mpg US (94.1 mpg UK or 3 liters / 100 km).
