Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe introduced
Mercedes-Benz has introduced this week the S65 AMG Coupe which looks just about the same as the S63 AMG Coupe with the exception of a metallic mesh for the front grille and vents, V12 BITURBO badging and yellow brake calipers. Its heart and soul is a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine generating no less than 630 PS (463 kW) and a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft). Thanks to this powerful engine, the S65 AMG Coupe needs only 4.1 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run which makes it 0.2 seconds quicker than the S63 AMG Coupe.
The European variant will be electronically limited at a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) whereas the US-spec model will be able to do 186 mph (299 km/h). All that power is transferred to the rear wheels (4MATIC not available) with help from a seven-speed automatic AMG gearbox while the suspension benefits from Magic Body Control and a curve tilting function.
The Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Coupe is fitted with multi-spoke 20-inch alloys shod in 255/40 R20 tires at the front and 285/35 R20 rubbers for the rear. At an additional cost, the high-performance coupe can be equipped with a ceramic compound braking system that compared to the standard one is 20 percent lighter.
The model can already be ordered in Germany where it costs 244,009 EUR, with deliveries set to begin in Europe in late September, followed by the United States before the year’s end.
