Mercedes-Benz unveils facelifted A-Class

Mercedes-Benz is proud to introduce the mid-cycle revision for its entry-level A-Class model. The cosmetic tweaks are subtle at best as only the front and rear bumpers have been lightly revised and there’s also somewhat modified graphics for both headlights and taillights. The optional bi-xenon arrangement of the previous version will be replaced by full LED headlights for improved lighting. A series of revisions have been made inside the cabin as well where there’s a free-standing eight-inch display, updated instrument cluster, galvanized switches along with new materials and colors.

As far as the engines are concerned, the A160 comes with a 1.6-liter producing 102 PS & 180 Nm while the A180d BlueEFFICIENCY Edition is the most frugal model or the range, featuring a 109 PS & 260 Nm 1.5-liter diesel that enables the model to consume 3.5 liters / 100 km and emit 89 g/km of CO2.

The most important change is for the A45 AMG model which no longer produces 360 PS & 450 Nm as Mercedes-Benz’s engineers have bumped output of the turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine to 381 PS & 475 Nm. This has lowered the 0-100 km/h sprint time by 0.4 seconds to 4.2s while fuel consumption has remained the same at 6.9 liters / 100 km with corresponding CO2 emissions of 162 g/km.
