New DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio Unveiled
DS Automobiles has unveiled the new DS 3 & DS 3 Cabrio. The new hatch and cabrio see several cosmetic changes, while it comes with a total of 8 engine options. The 2016 DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio come with refreshed exterior design and updated interior cabin with several latest features. In addition, a sportier version named DS 3 Performance has also been introduced.
Talking about the exterior styling modifications, the new DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio flaunt a new front bumper, LED headlamps and a redesigned “DS Wings” chrome grille. The new hatch and cabrio comes with a lot of personalisation options for the roof, body, rear view mirror housings, dashboard and gear knob. To be exact, a buyer can now choose from 78 body/roof colour combinations and four fabric roofs for the DS 3 Cabrio. The dynamic duo also comprises of Active City Brake function, which helps to prevent minor collisions at low speeds. The hatch has a 285-litres boot capacity, while the cabrio comes with a boot space of 245 litres.
Inside the cabin, new DS 3 hatch and cabrio models are equipped with Mirror Screen functionality, comprising of Apple CarPlay or MirrorLink (for Android phones). There is also a new 7-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system. The company has developed an App – MyDS – which keeps informing the buyers of their servicing schedule, fuel economy and parking location. MyDS is a free app available for Android and iOS. As for safety, the DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio feature rear parking sensors, a reversing camera with visual indicator guide lines and Hill Start Assist.
Mechanically, the duo of DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio has been offered with 8 engine options. The company hasn’t released the exact specifications, but revealed that the engine lineup would consist of three PureTech 130 three-cylinder turbo petrol engines, two THP four-cylinder petrol engines, and three BlueHDi diesel engines. These engine would be linked to manual and the latest-generation EAT6 automatic gearbox. As for the DS 3 Performance, it would be powered by a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder THP engine which would shell out 208hp of top power and 221 pound-feet of peak torque.
