Next-gen Porsche Panamera spied near the ‘Ring

The next-gen Porsche Panamera has been caught on camera testing as a prototype near the Nurburgring. This could very well be the S E-Hybrid version even though we cannot see the second fuel cap while underneath the familiar skin is the company’s newly developed MSB platform which should ensure a weight loss of around 200 lbs (91 kg) thanks to a more extensive use of high-strength steels as well as aluminum. Despite the camouflage on this car, it’s easy to notice the rear half of the vehicle has gone through some changes and we expect the new Panamera to look much better from behind thanks to that sloped roofline.

As far as the engines are concerned, word on the street suggests it will come with a new array of V6 and V8 motors developed by Porsche while the S E-Hybrid could use an uprated version of the current hardware. As a reminder, the outgoing hybrid Panamera mixes up a V6 3.0-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor to generate a combined output of 410 bhp which is enough for a 0-96 km/h run in 5.5 seconds and a 269 km/h top speed.

Expect the next-gen Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid to be even more economical than the outgoing version which has an average fuel consumption of 3.1 liters / 100 km and has a 35-km electric range.
