At next month’s Geneva Motor Show, German automaker Opel will be bringing this Adam R2 Rally Car Concept which was developed to comply with the FIA R2 specifications. The vehicle is based on the Adam Cup and is being described by the company as “chic, classy, [and] eye-catching.” It wears an OPC body kit and comes with lightweight racing wheels, roof-mounted scoop and a quick release bonnet. There’s also a sport-tuned suspension featuring gravel and asphalt settings, as well as Brembo brakes. Inside the stripped interior cabin there’s a roll cage, Sparco racing seats, digital instrument cluster, along with a MONIT trip computer.
Power of the Opel Adam R2 Rally Car Concept comes from a 1.6-liter EcoTec engine which is able to deliver about 185 HP (136 kW) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) of torque. The power unit is linked to a 5-speed sequential gearbox driving the front wheels through a limited slip differential.
Opel has announced they plan on finalizing the car’s development later this year and in the meantime they want to get the necessary R2 homologation so that it will be able to race in various European national R2 championships.
