Peugeot 208 GTI heading to Paris Motor Show
The spy photographers at autocar.co.uk have managed to grab a few photos of the upcoming Peugeot 208 GTI that is scheduled to make its public debut at the end of this month during the Paris Motor Show. The company’s bosses previously stated that the hotter version of the 208 won’t be as hardcore as some of its competitors, such as the Renault Clio 200. The reason for this is because the French carmaker thinks that there are some people looking for a hot hatch that can offer the day-to-day usability while at the same time providing the performance of a hot hatchback. Compared to the regular 208, the GTI is going to be lower and come with a subtle body kit, beefier alloys and brakes, twin exhausts and a retuned suspension.
The Peugeot 208 GTI is expected to be motivated by a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine which will develop almost 200 hp, enough to allow the vehicle to perform the 0-62 mph sprint in less than seven seconds and hit a maximum speed of more than 140 mph. Inside the cabin it will get a flat-bottomed steering wheel, sport seats, new gear knob and pedals, as well as a bespoke trim for the center console and the instrument panel.
In the United Kingdom the 208 GTI will arrive probably in the spring of next year, with prices starting from approximately 21,000 pounds. We will have full details about the hot hatch once it is unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
