Porsche Boxster Spyder announced, packs 375 HP

The highly anticipated Porsche Boxster Spyder has made its world debut at the New York Auto Show. It can be visually distinguished compared to lesser models by the bespoke manually-operated lightweight soft top as well as by the front and rear bumpers borrowed from the Cayman GT4. It also has a unique engine cover and a new 360mm steering wheel while the AC system and radio were removed to reduce weight but you can still add them without having to pay more.

Motivation of the Porsche Boxster Spyder comes from a 6-cylinder, 3.8-liter engine developing 375 HP (276 kW) sent to the wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox which allows the vehicle to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.5 seconds on its way onto a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).
Porsche took the high-performance brakes of the 911 Carrera and installed them in the Boxster Spyder which also benefits from an upgraded steering system as well as from a sports suspension which lowers the ride height by 20mm.
Scheduled to go on sale at home in Germany in July, the Porsche Boxster Spyder costs €79,945 while the US-spec model will be available starting October for $82,100, without the destination charge ($995).
