Porsche introduces Cayenne S Diesel

The German automaker Porsche has announced that they’ll bring the Cayenne S Diesel at the end of the month with the occasion of the Paris Motor Show. The diesel SUV is motivated by a V8 4.2-liter engine that produces 377 bhp and a peak torque of 626 lb-ft, making it 140 bhp and 221 lb-ft more powerful than the V6 3.0-liter which is single-turbocharged unlike its twin-turbocharged counterpart.

The four-wheel drive German SUV can achieve the 0-62 mph sprint in only 5.7 seconds and it will keep on going until it reaches a top speed of 157 mph. Thanks to the more powerful diesel engine, the Cayenne S can now tow up to 3500 kg.

Porsche says that this new diesel version of the Cayenne manages to return 34 mpg UK thanks to several fuel-saving technologies, including here the stop/start system. CO2 emissions stand at 218 g/km, a little better than other SUVs that come with big 8-cylinder engines. This power unit will also be installed under the hood of the facelifted Panamera, while Porsche said that its engineers have worked on providing the engine with a distinctive sound that’s more similar to a gasoline V8 engine.
