Porsche has taken the wraps off the 2016 Cayenne Turbo S at this year’s NAIAS edition in Detroit. It serves as the flagship variant of the SUV and comes with an uprated V8 bi-turbo 4.8-liter engine that now generates an extra 20 HP (15 kW) & 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) which means the motor is now capable of producing no less than 570 HP (419 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. As a result of the added oomph, the high-performance SUV is now 0.4 seconds faster in the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) which now takes 4.1 seconds before topping out at 176 mph (284 km/h).
Porsche says the 2016 Cayenne Turbo S has managed to do a full lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife in 7:59.74 which is an impressive performance for a vehicle of this type. The 2016 Cayenne Turbo S comes with an active all-wheel drive traction control management system which sends the engine’s output primarily to the rear wheels but when necessary some of the power goes to the front axle.
Stopping power is provided by ceramic brakes with 420mm front brakes matched with ten-piston calipers while at the back there are 370mm discs coupled with four-piston calipers. The 2016 Cayenne Turbo S sits on 21-inch rims and comes with a wide array of equipment including LED headlights, upgraded Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus and other as well.
Sales of the 2016 Cayenne Turbo S will kick off in the second quarter of the year, with prices in Germany beginning from €166,696.
