Power and Handling of the 2020 Ram 1500

Let’s talk about the 2020 Ram 1500 engines. The 305-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 with a mild hybrid system is the base engine for all trim models. Choose the upgrade to the more powerful 395-horsepower 3.6-liter V-8  with the option of being fitted with the same hybrid drive. The V-8 engine gets around 17mpg in the city and around 23 mpg on the highway. The V-6 is a little better with 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. This powerful 2020 Ram 1500 is also able to tow up to 12,750 pounds, which exceeds the average towing need for most drivers.

With the new 2019 redesign, the turbodiesel engine on the Ram 1500 has been improved dramatically, now with increased torque and horsepower. The efficiency of the turbocharger is enhanced. Notable, the block is lighter, and there’s been an improvement to the cylinder-head breathing. This redesign caused the Ram 1500 to surpass all of its light-duty truck competition, putting out 260 horsepower and 480 pounds per feet of torque.

We are told by University Dodge Ram that all trim models for the 2020 Ram 1500 come with the option of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Depending on your lifestyle or work needs, you may find that two-wheel-drive is your best option. The four-wheel-drive can be switched from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive and is more versatile, especially if you live in areas with severe weather or you’re adventurous and like to go off-road. Either way, you have your choice of multiple engine options, and they all pair with either the four-wheel or two-wheel drive. All trim models come with an automatic 8-speed  transmission.

The 2020 Ram 1500 has impressive handling for a half-ton truck. The active Class-Exclusive Air Dam System is activated as the vehicle approaches 30 miles per hour. This Air Dam System automatically extends downward 2.5 inches and helps to reduce the drag. This system is standard on 1500 models that don’t come equipped with Class-Exclusive Active-Level Four Corner Air Suspension. For an improved ride, superb handling, and better off-road capability, the standard segment-exclusive link-coil rear suspension system is outstanding, not to mention better fuel efficiency. This smooth-riding coil-spring suspension is superior to all competitors in its class. And the optional Class-Exclusive Active-Level Four Corner Air Suspension enhances the handling no matter what the load.

The Ram 1500 Anti-lock braking system will automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating. If the brakes are applied too forcefully, the system adjusts the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. The Anti-lock braking system is also the key to helping the truck turn safely while braking.

A stability control system automatically senses when the truck’s handling limits have been exceeded and reduces engine power. Or the stability control can automatically apply specific brakes to prevent the loss of control of the vehicle. For extra safety and handling, there is an option of adding the driver assistance package with lane-departure warnings and adaptive cruise control.

When you get behind the wheel of your new 2020 Ram 1500, you can trust that whatever road conditions you encounter, the truck will meet the challenge. The reliable Anti-lock braking and stability control systems automatically engage, giving you extra added confidence. The well- designed coil-spring suspension system gives you the smoothest ride possible. The four-wheel-drive option allows for more adventurous off-road driving while handling the harshest conditions. In addition to excellent handling, comfort, and safety, the 2020 Ram 1500 is a powerful workhorse that will tow just about anything you have on your to-do list. Superb handling, safety, power, fuel efficiency, and a comfortable ride, now that’s what makes this new 2020 Ram 1500 rise above everything else in its class.
