Renault Kwid concept unveiled

At this year’s Auto Expo in New Delhi, India there is a peculiar concept with an equally weird name, the Renault Kwid. The compact crossover adopts a unique styling both inside and out and represents the work of Renault Design India. It wears a two-tone grey & yellow paint scheme and comes with extremely short front and rear overhangs as well as an increased ride height. It rides on chunky alloy wheels and Renault says that the concept’s overall design mimics the styling of a buggy car.

At its heart is a turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine sending power to the front axle through an EDC dual clutch transmission. The Kwid concept is compatible with batteries and an electric motor so it could very easily spawn a Z.E. variant.

Inside the high-tech cabin there is a “Flying Companion” coming off from the roof’s rotating rear portion and can be either manually-controlled or can be set in automatic mode which will utilize a GPS-based pre-established flying sequence to detect incoming road obstacles or to take landscape pictures and scout traffic.
