Renault launches Scenic XMOD, debuts next month in Geneva
Renault’s Scenic family has gained a new member now that the XMOD has been announced, prior to its public debut scheduled for next month in Geneva. The Scenic XMOD can be considered as a more rugged of the regular model, providing a more crossover-like appearance.
We are still dealing with a front-wheel drive car but it has gained a new Grip Xtend traction control system featuring three modes: Road, Loose Ground and Expert. The driver can switch between these available modes with the help of a rotary knob installed on the center console.
The aforementioned “Road” mode acts like the regular setting of the traction control system, whereas the “Loose Ground” mode controls the torque of the engine and optimizes braking control on surfaces where there’s low grip. The “Expert” mode will automatically brake the car while the driver is in charge of the engine torque.
The 2013 Renault Scenic XMOD provides 555 liters of boot space, considerably more than the previous model’s 522-liter capacity. The interior cabin comes with independent seats which can be removed or folded. Also inside there’s a TFT display plus a joystick for the multimedia system.
More details will be revealed in March at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show where the car will be joined by the 2013 Scenic and Grand Scenic facelifts.
