Skoda introduces Octavia G-TEC

Czech automaker Skoda is introducing a compressed natural gas variant of the Octavia which will be sold under the “G-TEC” name. The CNG-running vehicle is equipped with a four-cylinder, 1.4-liter TSI gasoline turbocharged engine that outputs 110 HP sent to the front wheels. This engine complies with the Euro 6 emissions and is actually bivalent motor since it can run on compressed natural gas and comes as standard with a start/stop system as well as a regenerative braking system to keep fuel consumption down to a minimum.

Skoda mentions that when the vehicle runs on CNG it can travel for up to 254 miles and will emit 97 g/km of CO2 emissions. When running on gasoline, the Skoda Octavia G-TEC can provide a range of 571 miles while using both types of fuel the range increases to no less than 826 miles.
