The Nissan Murano has gained a hybrid version in time for this year’s edition of the Auto Shanghai show in China. The model is scheduled to hit dealerships in China later this year, while details about a global availability are not accessible at this time. Nissan says the model enables the company to provide more “sustainable mobility options” in China and comes with a four-cylinder, 2.5-liter supercharged gasoline engine working closely together with an electric motor as well as a compact-sized lithium-ion battery pack. Nissan isn’t saying a word about the powertrain’s output but it seems the hardware setup has been sourced from the Pathfinder Hybrid.
This means that we should expect the Nissan Murano Hybrid to offer a combined output of 250 bhp (186 kW) and 243 lb-ft (329 Nm) of torque. According to the Japanese marque, the model will have “excellent acceleration” while offering the fuel efficiency you would expect from a similar model that has a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine.
Nissan has published images and details with the 2015 Murano that will be officially introduced several days from now at the New York Auto Show. The model was previewed by the Resonance concept and has received a “floating” roof together with boomerang-shaped headlights and a V-Motion front fascia. The back of the vehicle features LED taillights and generous use of black plastic. The new Murano can ride on 20-inch alloy wheels and can be optionally fitted with LED headlights and a panoramic moonroof.
Moving on the inside, the 2015 Nissan Murano is configured with Zero Gravity seats, metallic accents and a wraparound wood trim. Other goodies include a seven-inch display as instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control system and a push-button ignition.
Nissan is offering a V6 3.5-liter engine generating 260 bhp and 240 lb-ft of torque. It’s coupled to an Xtronic gearbox and can be optionally connected to an all-wheel drive arrangement.
Japanese marque Nissan has released a teaser video for the 2015 Murano which will be officially revealed on April 16 during the 2014 New York International Auto Show in United States. The all-new crossover is going to feature chrome accents, LED daytime running lights as well as attractive headlights shaped like boomerangs. Unfortunately details about the model are scarce right now but Nissan did say that the revamped Murano will come with a “spacious, premium interior” as well as “advanced, purposeful safety and connective technology.”
The 2015 Murano will be Nissan’s first model to adopt a new design language which will be implemented on future models as well. Under the hood we expect to find the company’s familiar V6 3.5-liter engine with an estimated output of 260 bhp and a peak torque of 240 lb-ft. Chances are the motor will be linked to a CVT and clients will have the possibility to opt for an all-wheel drive arrangement.
Nissan has had a busy couple of weeks after launching the 2013 Sentra and Pathfinder and the Titan pickup truck, while now they have revealed a minor facelift for the Murano. The crossover is already on sale and it can be yours for $29,960 if you opt for the entry-level S version with FWD and you don’t take into account the delivery fee which will set you back an additional $825.
If you are willing to spend more than that, you could consider the the top-spec variant LE trim with AWD which costs $40,750.
For the new model year, the Japanese automaker has implemented an array of Safety Shield technologies that includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Moving Object Detection (MOD) for the LE Platinum Edition and SL Navigation Package. In addition, there’s also a Value Package offered for the SV models that brings a Bose sound system with dual subwoofers, nine speakers, along with a navigation system and a power liftgate. This one costs $2,270 and Nissan says that you will save $830 in comparison to buying them separately.
Customers have the possibility of choosing from two new exterior paint colors called Gun Metallic and Midnight Garnet. The 2013 Nissan Murano is offered with the same V6 3.5-liter engine that produces 260 hp and is connected to a Xtronic CVT.
