TagAZ Aquila is now in production

You probably haven’t heard up until now about TagAZ, but we don’t blame you as it is a Russian carmaker that hasn’t really made a name for itself outside the home market. Its latest product is called the Aquila and has recently entered the production phase. Set to hit dealerships very soon, the TagAZ Aquila is a four-door coupe that has already received more than 1,000 pre-orders. At the beginning it will be available only with a 1.6-liter 16v engine generating 107 HP (79 kW) which is mated exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission. TagAZ plans on offering the model with a more powerful 150 HP (110 kW) engine and possibly an automatic gearbox.

The 2013 TagAZ Aquila has a starting price of 415,000 rubles which converted means about 8,900 pounds / $14,000 / 10,625 euros. As standard, the somewhat stylish car comes equipped with an air conditioning system, ABS, front airbags, power steering, electric parking brake and an audio system.

TagAZ has announced that they don’t plan on selling the car outside Russia and nearby countries. The reason for this is that if they would decide to sell it in Western Europe they must add more safety equipment and do additional changes which would increase the price tag too much.
