Volkswagen e-Golf gains new $33,450 entry-level version

The Volkswagen e-Golf has reached 2015 model year in United States where it’s now available from $33,450 thanks to a new entry-level version. Known as the Limited Edition, this version is substantially more affordable than the $35,445 SEL Premium version but it does pack less equipment as it rides on 16-inch steel wheels and instead of LED headlights it adopts halogen clusters. In addition, Volkswagen has replaced the leatherette seating surfaces with cloth and they also removed the heat-pump system.

As a reminder, the Volkswagen e-Golf is motivated by a 115 HP electric motor which generates 270 Nm of torque and enables the all-electric hatchback to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 10.4 seconds. EPA says it can return 126 MPGe in the city, 105 MPGe on the highway and 116 MPGe in the combined cycle while the 24.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack should provide enough juice for up to 83 miles.

As standard, this new Volkswagen e-Golf Limited Edition comes nicely equipped with an electric parking brake, automatic headlights and wipers, LED daytime running lights, keyless access (with push-button start), dual zone climate control and navigation. It also has front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and can recharge the battery to an 80% level in 30 minutes thanks to the DC Fast Charging support.
