Volkswagen Golf VII Variant first official images released

These are the first official images with the upcoming Variant version of the Volkswagen Golf VII. Set for a public debut tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show, the more practical version of the Golf borrows a lot of its styling cues from the hatchback version while at the back it packs the usual taillights treatment seen on other models launched by Volkswagen recently.

The car seen in these pictures would have to be the more economical BlueMotion version equipped with a TSI engine and riding on five double-spoke alloy wheels. We also notice the addition of silver roof rails.

When it comes down to engine choices, most of them will be the same as they are on the hatchback so we should see the estate Golf with a 1.2-liter TSI producing 85 HP (63 kW) and 105 HP (77 kW). A larger 1.4-liter TSI is also on the list, with either 122 HP (90 kW) or 140 HP (103 kW). On the diesel side, we must mention the 1.6-liter TDI offered with 105 HP (77 kW) and a beefier 2.0-liter TDI outputting 150 HP.

The Variant will be showcased together with the plug-in hybrid, e-Golf, GTD and GTI versions of the Golf VII tomorrow in Geneva.
