Volvo reveals second generation XC90
Volvo has finally revealed the second generation XC90 mid-size luxury SUV, perhaps the most important model in recent year of the Swedish marque now owned by Geely. It adopts an evolutionary design with more elegant lines and a refined overall styling, enhanced by the T-shaped LED daytime running lights and a modern interpretation of the XC90’s traditional taillights. Riding on alloy wheels up to 22 inches, the vehicle has received a roof-mounted spoiler together with rectangle or round exhaust tips while dark plastic mouldings can be found on the bumpers, wheels arches and side skirts on select versions.
Motivation is provided by Drive-E four-cylinder engines such as a supercharged and turbocharged T6 with 320 bhp and 295 lb-ft. There’s also a T5 with 254 bhp and 258 lb-ft while on the diesel side we find a twin-turbo D5 rated at 225 bhp and 347 lb-ft along with a D4 packing 190 bhp and 295 lb-ft. The range-topping variant makes use of a plug-in hybrid system with a turbocharged and supercharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine powering the front wheels and an electric motor driving the rear axle, providing a combined output of 400 bhp and 472 lb-ft.
