2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 revealed

McLaren has done some minor modifications to the MP4-12C GT3 racer which will be entering competitions later on this year. What’s changed? McLaren’s engineers have updated the car’s aerodynamics and they also upgraded the ECU along with improving its electrical system.

Aside from these tweaks, the car now features an upgraded cooling system and new dampers. All of these changes are aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency.

While last year’s GT3 variant of the MP4-12C was eligible only for Euro-based GT teams, the new version can be had by international GT teams, non-race users and collectors as well. This is the reason why it will be used by Sebastien Loeb Racing and Clearwater Racing. The former will have two cars, one will be driven by Loeb while the other will be driven by McLaren GT factory driver Alvaro Parente.

Power comes from a V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine linked to a 6-speed sequential gearbox. We don’t know if the output of the engine has increased but we can tell you last year’s model had an output of 500 HP (368 kW).

Already available on order, the 2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 racer has a starting price of 325,000 euros ($518,930 or 389,780 pounds).
