McLaren has announced two new models called 625C Coupe & Spider which will be sold only on the Asian market. The vehicles are being described as being the most refined models to wear the McLaren badge as a result of an updated mechanical balance, new dampers and less stiff rear spring rate. Power of both versions comes from a detuned V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine sourced from the 650S which in this application develops 625 HP (460 kW) and a maximum torque of 610 Nm (450 lb-ft).
The McLaren 625C Coupe is capable of doing the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.1 seconds which makes it 0.1s slower than the 650S. The 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) journey will take 8.8 seconds, representing a +0.4s increase compared to the more powerful model. The 625C Spider has the same 0-62 mph sprint time but is 0.2s slower in the 0-124 mph journey. While the coupe hits a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h), the spider is a tad slower as it will do 204 mph (329 km/h).
Both the McLaren 625C Coupe & Spider will go on sale initially in Hong Kong, but in the months to come other countries from the Asia Pacific region will get the cars.
