2014 Lotus Elise S Cup R unleashed for track-only purposes
Famous British sportscar maker Lotus has prepared a brand new track toy based on the Elise. The car’s full name is a bit of a mouthful as it’s called the 2014 Lotus Elise S Cup R and it can be driven only on the track since it’s not road legal.
The vehicle can be easily distinguished by its aerodynamic body kit that comes with new side skirts, a front splitter, a rear wing and also a rear diffuser. Lotus has also installed a hardtop, tow hooks and 16- / 17-inch forged alloys shod in Advan Neova AD07 LTS tires provided by Japanese marque Yokohama.
To shed some of the weight, Lotus removed the standard rear window and replaced it with a new one made from polycarbonate. On the inside it gets a FIA-compliant rollcage, a HANS-compatible racing seat and a quick-release steering wheel.
At its heart is a 4-cylinder 1.8-liter 2ZR-FE supercharged engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Tipping the scales at 2,037 lbs (924 kg), the Elise S Cup R also comes with a sports-tuned suspension, a triple-pass radiator and high-performance brakes.
The vehicle is eligible to take part in next year’s Lotus Cup racing series. It can be yours if you are willing to pay 39,125 pounds.
