2015 Chevrolet Impala breaks cover

Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the 2015 Impala which will be offered as standard with a stop/start system for those who opt for the 4-cylinder EcoTec 2.5-liter engine outputting 195 bhp and a peak torque of 253 Nm. Thanks to the system, the vehicle will be able to return an EPA-estimated 22 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the combined cycle. This is slightly better than the version without the system which does 21/31/25. The model is scheduled to go on sale this summer and will cost $27,735, including the $825 destination fee.

Chevrolet wanted to make sure that the driver will not feel the engine disengaging and engaging which is why the installed different motor mounts offering a higher level of sound isolation. In addition, the power unit benefits from a heavy-duty starter as well as revised algorithms which take into account various factors such as battery charge, humidity, cabin temperature in order to decide when the engine should be stopped.
