The 2016 Suzuki Baleno is making its online debut and will be shown in the metal in a couple of weeks at IAA in Frankfurt. It’s basically an evolution of the iK-2 concept exhibited back in March at the Geneva Motor Show and as you would expect, the production car isn’t really as exciting as the concept. However, that doesn’t mean it’s an unattractive as the Baleno seems to be a cute city car with a clean and simple design that will surely be appreciated by some people in the market for a no-frills vehicle.
We don’t know the car’s exact proportions but these should be very close to the concept which was 4023mm long, 1920mm wide and 1450mm tall, with a wheelbase measuring 2520 mm. Suzuki mentions the interior cabin will be very spacious for a car in this segment while the capacity of the trunk will be more than generous.
The 2016 Suzuki Baleno has a 1.0-liter turbocharged BOOSTERJET direct-injection gasoline engine with an integrated starter generator which will enable the vehicle to provide great fuel economy, also helped by the car’s lightweight construction.
We will know more in about two weeks when the Baleno will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show before hitting European dealerships in the spring of 2016.
