After making its debut at the beginning of the year in Detroit at NAIAS, now we have full technical specifications of the 2017 Acura NSX. The new supercar from Honda’s premium marque is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine capable of putting out 500 bhp and a peak torque of 406 lb-ft and has a 7,500 rpm redline. Positioned behind the conventional engine is a rear-assist motor producing an additional 47 bhp and 100 lb-ft and behind that sits the nine-speed dual-clutch transmission. In between the front wheels resides the Twin Motor Unit (TMU) consisting of a pair of 35 bhp & 54 lb-ft electric motors while wedged between the seats and the engine is the lithium-ion battery.
The 2017 Acura NSX has a combined output of 573 bhp and 476 lb-ft which will be enough muscle to grant the supercar with a 0-60 mph run in only 3 seconds before topping out at somewhere in the region of 191 mph which is actually very good taking into account the car weighs 3,803 lbs which is substantially more than its main rivals, such as the Audi R8 V10 which tips the scales at 3,593 lbs.
Programmed to go on sale next spring as a 2017MY, the second generation Acura NSX is expected to cost around $170,000.
