Jaguar reveals production-ready F-Type Project 7
Jaguar has taken the wraps off the F-Type Project 7 which has debuted today at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s the first product to come out of the company’s newly established Special Operations division and is described as being the “fastest and most powerful production Jaguar” in existence. Technical details have not been released but it is believed the model packs a V8 5.0-liter supercharged gasoline engine generating as much as 567 bhp (422 kW). It works with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and does the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 3.9 seconds.
Compared to a regular F-Type, this version has been fitted with stronger front suspension knuckles along with new anti-roll bars and stiffer springs. It also comes with adaptive dampers, a torque vectoring system and carbon ceramic brakes. Its styling resembles the original Project 7 concept but has gained larger mirrors, a shorted windscreen and a passenger-side carbon fiber rollover hoop.
The vehicle benefits from an aerodynamically-optimized body which enables the car to produce 177 percent more downforce at 186 mph (299 km/h) compared to the F-Type Convertible. It is believed only 250 cars will be made and deliveries will kick off about a year from now.
